Nick Twaalfhoven has an expressionistic painting passion and he feels that talent manifests itself through self-expression, not always by training. This is clearly reflected in his painting: Painting is not a passion, but a bitter necessity.
He gets his inspiration mainly from pop music from the 60s and 70s, modern art from the 80's and today's Street Art. His style can best be described as Neo-expressionist (street) Pop. His paintings are made with a large portion of energy and furious joy. "A painter no longer exists within a tradition, therefore we must design our own personal signature."
The diversity of its materials is unstructured; varnish printed images, acrylic paint, oil paint, oil chalk, spray, marine paint, markers and ink used in different combinations and sequences. These materials along with its primary way of painting, makes his paintings a raw, colorful experience for the viewer and they contain enough freedom for imagination and interpretation.
